Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern Volleyball team will be in action tomorrow night as the Lions will travel to Pittsburg State to take on the Gorillas in MIAA play. First serve from Pittsburg is set for 6 pm.
The Lions (2-6, 2-2 MIAA) are coming off a 3-1 win at Newman where Southern won the final three sets to take care of the Jets. The Lions were led by
Kierson Maydew led the Lions with 15 kills, while
Janelle Brehm added nine kills and 16 digs.
Kylah Carter,
Armyni Perales and
Alyssa Diaz added nine kills, while
Abbie Casper and
Emalee Lowe had 22 and 16 digs each.
Sophie Mader had 51 assists in the match.
These two teams met two weeks ago when the Lions defeated the Gorillas (2-4, 1-2 MIAA) by a score of three sets to one at home. Brehm had 19 kills and 11 digs in the match, while Diaz added 15 kills of her own. Mader had 53 assists, while Casper and McCain had 17 and 11 digs, respectively.
The MIAA will play ten conference matches this season, with schools separated into north and south divisions. An end of the year postseason tournament will be held on April 16-18.
