Wichita, Kan. -- The Missouri Southern volleyball team dropped the opening set today, but came back to win the next three and took out Newman three sets to one. Individual set scores were 21-25, 25-23, 25-23 and 28-26.
Kierson Maydew led the Lions with 15 kills, while
Janelle Brehm added nine kills and 16 digs.
Kylah Carter,
Armyni Perales and
Alyssa Diaz added nine kills, while
Abbie Casper and
Emalee Lowe had 22 and 16 digs each.
Sophie Mader had 51 assists in the match.
After dropping the first set 25-21, the Lions stormed back and won set two 25-23. Southern picked up another 25-23 win in set three and completed the win with a 28-26 victory in set four. The Lions had multiple match points in the final set, but finally put away the Jets.
The Lions will be back in action on Thursday, March 18 with a match at Pittsburg State. First serve is at 6 pm.
