Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern volleyball team will head north tomorrow as the Lions will take on Missouri Western in St. Joseph in a re-scheduling of a match from a few weeks ago.
First serve from St. Joseph will be 6 pm. The other game the Lions had to postpone, at Northwest Missouri, will be played on November 3 in Maryville at 6 pm.
The Lions (3-11, 0-4 MIAA) will get
CC Pollard back in the lineup after missing the past few matches. Pollard leads the team with 3.14 kills per set, while
Bonnie Hegarty is right behind her at 2.47.
Armyni Perales had an outstanding week as the freshman from Houston averaged 4.10 kills per set in three matches last week. This season, Perales is averaging 2.35 kills per set.
Sophie Mader averaged just under 10 assists per set last week and for the season is dishing out 8.70 per frame.
Brooklynn McCain averaged 4.60 digs per set last week and is pulling in 3.70 digs per set this season for the Lions.
Kierson Maydew has 28 total blocks this year, while Hegarty has 24 of her own.
Southern ranks fourth in the MIAA in service aces as a team.
Western (10-4, 2-3 MIAA) split a pair of matches last week, picking up a win at Fort Hays State, but falling at Nebraska-Kearney. The Griffons are led by Ali Tauchen at 2.80 kills per set, while Karly Tharp and Allie Kearns average 2.64 kills per set each. Jenna Boland is averaging 9.84 assists per set, while Jessac Sachen is averaging 4.24 digs per set.
