Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern volleyball team will be back at home this weekend as the Lions play host to Missouri Western on Friday and Northwest Missouri on Saturday.
Both matches will be played inside Young Gymnasium. Friday's match with the Griffons will start at 6 pm, while Saturday's match with the Bearcats will begin at 3 pm.
The Lions (3-18, 0-11 MIAA) are led by senior setter
Sophie Mader who is averaging 7.87 assists per set on the season with 559 total. Mader also has 156 digs for an average of 2.20 per set.
Brooklynn McCain has 259 digs for an average of 3.65 per set, while
CC Pollard has 116 kills for an average of 3.05 per set.
Armyni Perales has 140 kills to lead the team and averages 2.41 per set, while
Kierson Maydew has a team-high 41 blocks on the season.
Amelia Neels had a career-high five aces in the match at Nebraska-Kearney this past weekend and she has 11 on the season to go with 24 blocks.
Grace Quiroz leads the team with 16 aces on the season, while she has added 122 digs.
The Lions rank fourth in the MIAA in team aces, while ranking fifth in aces per set.
Western (12-9, 4-8 MIAA) is led by Ali Tauchen with 2.68 kills per set, while Allie Kerns (2.57) and Karly Tharp (2.49) make up the brunt of the offensive attack for the Griffons. Jenna Bolland averages 8.73 assists per set, while Jessica Sachen has a team-high 4.51 digs per set. Danielle Moje has a team-leading 59 blocks.
The Bearcats (16-2, 9-1 MIAA) come into the match ranked sixth nationally in the latest Division II AVCA Poll. Northwest is led by Payton Kirchoefer with 3.61 kills per set, while Kelsey Havel averages 2.98. Alyssa Rezac is averaging 11.36 assists per set, while Hannah Koechl has a team-high 4.84 digs per set.
