Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern Volleyball team will be in action this weekend as the Lions travel to Fort Hays State on Friday and Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday.
First serve against the Tigers in Hays is slated for 6 pm, while Saturday's matchup with the Lopers in Kearney is set for 3 pm.
The Lions (3-15, 0-8 MIAA) are led offensively by senior
CC Pollard who is averaging 3.05 kills per set, as well as
Sophie Mader who dishes out 8.02 assists per set and averages 2.11 digs per set. Mader has 16 blocks on the year, as well.
Brooklynn McCain leads the way with 3.64 digs per set, while McCain and
Grace Quiroz are tied for the team-lead in aces with 15 each. The Lions, as a team, rank fifth in the MIAA in total aces and sixth in aces per set.
Kierson Maydew has a team-high 35 blocks on the season, while
Armyni Perales has 20.
FHSU ( 8-10, 2-7 MIAA) is led offensively by Riley Tinder who averages 2.67 kills per set. The Tigers have used multiple players at the setter position this season, with Elysia Glowacz leading the team with 5.52 assists per set. Olivia Hessman is averaging 4.03 assists per set, as well.
Isabelle Reynolds has a team-high 3.24 digs per set, while Emily Ellis has a team-high 52 blocks.
UNK (13-5, 4-5 MIAA) comes into the match ranked 15
th nationally in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Poll. The Lopers are led by Emersen Cyza with 3.09 kills per set while Cece Beahm (2.90) and Anna Squires (2.82) average nearly three per set themselves. Madison Squires leads the team with 11.60 assists per set, while Lindsay Nottleman has a team-high 5.11 digs per set.
