Emporia, Kan. -- The No. 11 Missouri Southern baseball team got a pair of hits from both
Joe Kinder and
Tommy Stevenson, but the Lions dropped game two of its series at Emporia State 12-0 in eight innings.
The Lions (13-2, 0-2 MIAA) had two-hit days from both Stevenson and Kinder, while
Troy Gagan had the Lions' other hit.
Zac Shoemaker started and went six innings, suffering the loss to move to 3-1 on the season. He struck out six and walked just one.
Cole Woods,
Jeremiah Kennedy and
Scott Duensing pitched in relief.
The Hornets (10-6, 2-0 MIAA) got seven shutout innings from Jared Kengott, while Jarrett Seaton threw an inning in relief. Connor Hurst drove in four.
ESU utilized the big inning today as the Hornets scored five in the second, three in the seventh and four in the eighth.
The two teams will be back in action tomorrow as the series finale is slated for a 12 pm first pitch.
