Tahlequah, Okla. – The Missouri Southern women's soccer team tied it up in the 68th minute of the second period, but the Northeastern State RiverHawks scored eight minutes later for a 2-1 victory inside DeLoache Field Sunday afternoon.
Freshman
Ashton Manwill retrieved a pass from
Sarah Tatum and blooped the ball over the goalkeeper's head to put the Lions (2-8-0, 1-2-0 MIAA) in a 1-1 tie early in the second period.
Senior goalkeeper
Luz Galindo made 11 saves on 24 shots faced in her first start of the season.
NSU (6-3-1, 1-2-0 MIAA) opened the scoring in the 25th minute of the first period and then retook the lead, 2-1, in the 76th minute of the second period in the win.
Missouri Southern returns home to host nationally ranked Central Oklahoma on Friday at 6:00 pm.
