Women’s Soccer Falls in Defensive Battle with Missouri Western

Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern Women's soccer team limited Missouri Western to six shots the entire game, but one found the back of the net for a 1-0 loss inside Fred G. Hughes Stadium Sunday afternoon.

Junior forward Tayler LePage led the Lions (7-5-2, 3-3-1 MIAA) with two shots while four others put up one shot each.

The Griffons (10-4, 5-2 MIAA) scored the game-winner on a takeaway in front of the net in the 24th minute of the first period.

Junior goalkeeper Luz Galindo faced all six shots and made two saves, including an incredible one-handed save off a jump that deflected the ball over the crossbar to keep the team within one.

Southern is back in action against Fort Hays State on Oct. 19 at 6:00 pm before welcoming Nebraska-Kearney for a Sunday match scheduled for 1:00 pm.
