Edmond, Okla. – The Missouri Southern soccer team knotted it up at one a piece, but would eventually fall, 3-1, from two unanswered goals by Oklahoma Central inside Tom Thompson Field Friday afternoon.
The Lions (0-4-2) went into the half down by one goal until sophomore forward
Jessica Edwards shot a 35-yarder over the goalkeeper's head to the tie the match up 1-1 in the 52nd minute.
UCO (3-4, 1-0) answered back four minutes later as Broncho's Camille Greer put them back up with a straight-away shot and never looked back towards the end. Kelsie Eason added an insurance goal, beating a defender on a one-on-one break in 75th minute. Teammate Morgan Cherry began the scoring output, finding the ball off a corner kick and heading it in for the 1-0 lead heading into the half.
Tayler LePage and
Brooke Ishmael each had two shot attempts, while
Maria Sturluson,
Meredith Belrose, and
Sarah Tatum all had one; Tatum's being the second one on goal for the Lions.

Hannah Stevenson remained in the game for all 90 minutes and made eight saves on the day, despite allowing three scores. She moves to 0-3-1 on the season.
Now the Lions will travel to face the undefeated Northeastern State RiverHawks (5-0) to open MIAA conference play on Sunday inside Dr. Dan F. Deloache Field at 1 pm.
