Bolivar, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern golf team finished sixth overall and junior junior
Taylor Lansford finished tied for 14th as the Lions competed at the SBU Invitational today at Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar.
The Lions finished as the fifth-best MIAA team, as Southern improved its team score by 20 strokes today, shooting an 8-over 296 as a team. The score was the third-best in the second round.
Lansford shot a one-over par today to lead the Lions and finished tied for 14th with a two-day total of 151, seven over par. Junior
Cameron Hamilton also shot a 73 today to finish tied for 20th with a two-day total of 152. Freshman
Tristan Haltom was tied for 34th with a 155, while sophomore
Connor Neil had the top individual total for the Lions today with an even-par 72, finishing tied for 45th with a 157. Senior
Ethan Hutcheson shot a two-day total of 165 and junior
Phillip Roller, competing as an individual, finished with a two day total of 162 and a share of 64th.
Southern entered tied for third in the MIAA standings with Northeastern State and after the dust settled remained in a tie for third this time with Lindenwood and Washburn catching up to the Lions with 23 points each. Lansford entered the SBU Invitational tied for 14th with seven points and moved up into 13th with 11.5 points while
Hutcheson entered in 10th place with 10 points and dropped to 16th, failing to garner any points with this event and Hamilton entered tied for 20th and dropped to 25th with 3.1 points. A complete listing of team and individual standings is posted below.
Up next for the Lions will be the MIAA Championships at Tiffany Greens Golf Club in Kansas City April 18-20. The Tiffany Greens course is a 6,977 yard par 72 course located in northern Kansas City by Kansas City International Airport.
