Taylor Lansford Wins David Falconer Classic

Danville, Ark. - Junior Taylor Lansford used a 5-under 67 in the final round of the David Falconer Classic hosted by Arkansas Tech University at the Chamberlyne Country Club to come away with individual medalist honors.

Lansford improved five strokes on his first round of 1-under 71 to move up eight spots for the individual title with a two round total of 138, 6-under. First round leader Drew Greenwood of Henderson State shot a second round 78, 6-over, to finish at an even par 144 in a tie for 12th place. Austin Smith of Arkansas Tech, who entered the second round tied with Lansford for eighth, finished two strokes back in second place with a 140 (-4) after a 3-under 69 second round. Sophomore Connor Neil finished the two day tournament with a 148 (+4) following a 3-over 75 in round two, while freshman Jake Badovinac finished with a 152 (+8) and junior Cameron Hamilton came in with a two day total of 153 (+9). Senior Ethan Hutcheson was the biggest mover for the Lions as he moved up 13 spots and improved on his first round score by four strokes to finish with a 154 (+10).

The Lions as a team dropped one spot with a 295 second round total for a two day 587. Host Arkansas Tech won the tournament with a two day total of 571, the Wonder Boys put together a 283, the lowest round of the tournament, to move up two spots for the team crown. First day leader, Henderson State, carded a 296 second round and fell into a tie for third with Washburn who moved up from seventh with a second round of 287 for a total of 581. Southeastern Oklahoma started the round in second and stayed there with a 293 for a total of 579. Trevecca Nazarene finished two strokes ahead of the Lions for fifth with a two day total of 585 and Lewis rounded out the top seven with a team total of 590. Northeastern State finished in 10th with 597 and Missouri Western finished tied for 17th with 614.

Lansford led the field in par four scoring with 5-under and an average of 3.75, he was in the top 20 in par five scoring at 3-under and an average of 4.63, and was tied for the lead with 10 birdies for the tournament. Neil was tied for third on par three scoring with an even par score and average of 3.00 and was in the top seven in total pars for the tournament with 25. Badovinac finished in the top 20 in par three scoring with a +1 and average of 3.13 and was tied for the lead in pars with 27.

The Lions will take a week off before heading to the Broncho Invitational hosted by Central Oklahoma at Gillardia Country Club March 21-22.
