Golf Drops One Spot into Tie for 13th on Final Day of Broncho Invite by RCB Bank

Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Missouri Southern Lions' golf team fell one spot into a tie for 13th in the final day of the Broncho Invitational by RCB Bank at the Gaillardia Country Club Tuesday afternoon.

Tuesday was another tough day on the par-72, 7,136-yard course with south winds of 25-30 mph and gusts to over 40.  The average score was 84.33, down slightly from yesterday, with nine rounds in 90s and 16 in 70s.

Junior Taylor Lansford led the Lions again in the final round with a 7-over 79 for a total of 162 and a share of 12th place. Fellow junior Cameron Hamilton carded an 84 for a two day total of 168 while senior Ethan Hutcheson finished the final round with an 87 for a total of 173. Sophomore Connor Neil was just five strokes back overall with a 178 and freshman Tristan Haltom finished with a 185. The Lions tied with Arkansas-Ft. Smith with an overall score of 681 following a second day of 342.

Oklahoma Christian came from behind and upended first round leaders and host Central Oklahoma for the team title 631 to 632 while Southwestern Oklahoma finished in third with a two day total of 639. Lindenwood came in fourth with a 647 and two strokes back of them was Southeastern Oklahoma with a 649 to round out the top five. Central Missouri moved up into sixth with a 654 followed by the Ichabods of Washburn University at 659, Henderson State at 666, Southern Nazarene at 667, and Missouri Western rounded out the next five with a 675. Southern Arkansas and Harding tied for 11th with a 676, then the two Lions followed by Southwest Baptist with a 687, and St. Thomas (Texas) rounded out the 16 team field with a 688.

Zac Schaefer of Oklahoma Christian won the individual medalist with a two round 151 (77-74) over Cody Troutman of Central Oklahoma who finished with a 155 (78-77).

The Lions will be idle until April 13-14 when they travel to Silo Ridge Golf & Country Club for the SBU Invite, a MIAA points event.
