Taylor Lansford paced the Missouri Southern Lions golf team during the first round of the San Antonio Shoot-Out hosted by Oklahoma Christian University at TPC San Antonio on the AT&T Canyons course.
Lansford carded a 3-over par 75 first round for a share of ninth place as the Lions were paired with Dallas Baptist and first round team leaders Central Oklahoma. Southern as a team sits in 11th after the first round with a team score of 319, six strokes from the top five. Junior
Cameron Hamilton shares 39th with a first round score of 80, 8-over, and junior
Trae Fairchild along with sophomore
Connor Neil are just two strokes back with a first round of 82. Freshman
Tristan Haltom, making his third tournament, finished with a opening round of 85.
Central Oklahoma has a seven shot lead over the host Oklahoma Christian "A" team 300-307 with Russ Purser of UCO leading the individuals with a first round of 68, 4-under. Dallas Baptist's Josh Aguilar is currently second with a one-under 71 and Texas Tech individuals, Wes Artac and Jordan Sanders shared third with a even par 72. Southern Nazarene sits in third place with a 311 followed by Midwestern State and Dallas Baptist at 312. St. Mary's (Texas) and MIAA school Nebraska-Kearney are one shot back at 313 tied for sixth and Rogers State came in eighth with a 316. Oklahoma Christian "B" Team is tied with Illinois-Springfield at ninth with a 318, then the Lions followed by Drury with 320 and Texas A&M International rounds out the team scores with a first round 329. Texas Tech sent four individuals to the tournament only.
The San Antonio Shoot-Out moves to the AT&T Oaks course, host course for the PGA Tour Valero Texas Open, for the final round tomorrow. Oaks is a 7,435 yard par 72 course designed by PGA legend Greg Norman and PGA current player Sergio Garcia.
