The Series
The Lions lead the series with Rockhurst 25-20. Southern is 16-7 at home and 9-13 in Kansas City. The series started in 1969-70 and was played regularly until 2006-07 when the last time the two teams played. From 1976-1982, the series was full of streaks as the Lions won five in a row, followed by five in a row for the Hawks. Southern then reeled off three in a row after that streak was ended. The largest margin of victory for the Lions was in 1994 when Southern won 112-78 at home. The largest margin of victory for Rockhurst was a 94-65 win in 1972 in Kansas City. Southern's first three wins over Rockhurst came in the NAIA District Playoffs. Since joining NCAA Division II, the Lions are 10-6 against Rockhurst.
CJ CARR - Manchild
Junior transfer CJ Carr has stepped in and helped lead this Lions team early in the season. After three games, he leads Division II minutes per game and is second in steals. He ranks in the top 20 nationally in eight different statistical categories.

Carr leads Division II in minutes, while ranking second in steals. He ranks third in assists per game, scoring, and total steals. He ranks ninth in threes per game, 15th in total assists, 20th in total field gaols attempted, 22nd in double-doubles, 25th in total points and 38th in total field goals made. JJ Cratit ranks tenth in minutes per game.

The Lions rank sixth in turnover margin, while ranking ninth in scoring and tenth in turnovers forced. The team ranks 12th in steals per game, 19th in three pointers per game and assists to turnover ratio, 29th in fewest turnovers, 31st in turnovers (fewest) per game, 39th in assists per game, 42nd in three point percentage and 47th in free throw percentage.

Carr leads the MIAA in assists per game, minutes per game, scoring, steals per game, total assists and total steals. He ranks second in double-doubles, three pointers per game and total field goal attempts, while ranking third in total points, three point attempts and total field goals made. Cratit ranks second in minutes, while Lawrence Brown is fourth in rebounds.

Double-Double 1
CJ Carr picked up his second double-double of the season with a 26 point, 11 assist effort against William Jewell.
Double-Double 2
Lawrence Brown picked up a double-double of his own against William Jewell with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Blockless, No More
After coming into the game with William Jewell with no blocks on the season, the Lions blocked five shots from the Cardinals with Brown blocking three alone.
Three Point Streak
The Lions failed to make a three-pointer at Arkansas Tech in their match-up in 2012-13. It was the first time in 403 games that Southern had failed to hit a three pointer, dating back to Jan. 20, 1999 against Missouri S&T. The Lions have had a three in 116-straight games since Arkansas Tech in 2012-13.
Quadruple Double
In the sport of basketball, a triple double (double-digits in three stat categories) is thought of as an awesome feat. CJ Carr nearly got a quadruple double in the season opener at St. Cloud State with 25 points, 12 assists, 7 rebounds and 7 steals.
New Starting Five
For the first time in program history (since joining the NCAA), the Missouri Southern men's basketball program started five entirely new players to the roster the first two games to the season this year. All five players in the starting lineup did not play last year at MSSU.
3-0 To Start The Season
Missouri Southern is 3-0 to start the season for the first time since the 2012-13 season when the team started 3-0 to open the campaign. If the Lions win over Rockhurst, it would be the first 4-0 start since the 2011-12 season when the team opened up the year 9-0.
D2 SID's Regional Ranking
After going 3-0 to start the season, the Lions moved up to number 4 in the Division II SID's regional rankings this week.
Comeback Kids
The Lions came back from being down at least eight points on three separate occasions against William Jewell only to win by ten points.

The Missouri Southern men will take part in the Drury University Thanksgiving Classic this Friday and Saturday. The Lions will face off with Missouri S&T on Friday at 1 pm, and then take on host Drury at 3:15 pm on Saturday.
