Kingston, Okla. - The Missouri Southern golf team is currently sitting in sixth place following the first day at the Texoma Championships at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club.Blake Elliot of Paris Junior College held the lead through both rounds as he finished the first round at 4-under 68 and the second round at 1-over 73 for a total of 3-under 141. Junior
Taylor Lansford led the way on the first day for the Lions with a 4-over 148 (73-75) for a share of fourth place. Sophomore
Connor Neil finished in a tie for ninth as he carded a 7-over 151 (74-77), while junior
Cameron Hamilton and freshman
Tripper Jensen finished the day with a share of 25th. Hamilton carded a 13-over 157 (77-80) while Jensen had rounds of 75 and 82. Senior
Ethan Hutcheson currently sits in a tie for 34th at 17-over 161 (80-81).
The Lions entered the second round in second place one stroke behind the leader, Paris Junior College, however Southern fell four spots to sixth with a second round of 313. Paris Junior College maintained their lead as they carded a team total of 597 (298-299). They are followed by the hosts Southeastern Oklahoma State as they moved up three spots with a first day total of 601 (310-291), and Southern Arkansas moved up one spot into third with a team total of 608 (306-302). East Central is in fourth place with a total of 609 (312-297) followed by defending champion Rogers State with a 610 (303-307) then the Lions at 612 (299-313) and Northwestern Oklahoma State rounds out the seven team field with a 629 (322-307).
