Lemont, Ill. - Missouri Southern senior Ryan Buerk is tied for 32nd after the first day of the NCAA D-2 Midwest/Central Regional.
Starting on hole one of the 6,932 yard par 72 Dubsdread Course at Cog Hill Golf Club, Buerk bogeyed the par three hole two to go one over but closed out the front nine with a birdie on the par five hole nine to pull to even par. On the back nine Buerk birdied the par five twelth hole to go 1-under before bogeying 14, 17, and 18 to close out the round at 2-over par.
"Ryan really played solid today, his score doesn't reflect it but we are excited for another round tomorrow on an excellent golf course," said head coach Mike Wheeler.
Buerk is tied for 32nd seven shots back of the leaders Travis Mays of Central Missouri and DJ Vogt of Bellarmie. Vogt hit a hole in one the par three second hole to highlight his 5-under score. Central Missouri is sitting in second in the team standings at 3-over, three strokes back of the leading Southeastern Oklahoma State squad. Central Oklahoma is currently sixth at 8-over and the final MIAA squad, Washburn, is tied for 12th at 14-over.
Buerk is scheduled to tee of for round two on the back nine at 8:50 am CDT.
