Danville, Ark. - The Missouri Southern Golf team shot a one under second round to finish in a three way tie for third place.
Senior Ryan Buerk matched his day one performance as he carded another one under 71 for a two day total of 142 (-2). Buerk finished tied for second with fifth ranked Michael Hearne from Southern Nazarene. "Great performance from our guys today," said Coach Wheeler, "we beat 5 of the 6 MIAA schools including top 10 ranked Central Oklahoma and top 50 ranked Northeastern State."
Sophomore Taylor Lansford also carded a one under 71, nine strokes better than his round one score, on day two for a two round total of 153 (+9). Lansford was one of the biggest movers on the day as he moved up 21 spots to finish tied for 51st.
Freshman Connor Neil shot an even par 72 in the second round for a two day total of 149 (+5) also with that two day total was fellow freshman Chas Goines who finished the second round with a one over 73. Both Neil and Goines finished tied for 27th overall.
Sophomore Trae Fairchild and senior Ethan Hutcheson both improved their round one scores by a stroke, Fairchild with a round two 79 and Hutcheson with an 85.
The Lions will be back in action next week as they travel to San Antonio, Texas to take part in the Rattler Invitational hosted by St. Mary's University.
