Lions Golf in 8th Place After Day 1 at Lincoln Invitational

Camdenton, Mo. - The Missouri Southern golf team sits in eighth place following the first day of the Lincoln Invitational hosted by Lincoln University on the 6,855 yard par 71 Old Kinderhook Country Club Course.

The Lions were led by junior Ethan Hutcheson who shot an eight over par 150 (76-74) for a share of 19th place. Senior Ryan Buerk carded a 156 (77-79) for a share of 31st while freshman Aaron Shoemaker finished with a 158 (78-80) in 34th. Rounding out the five for Southern was sophomore Taylor Lansford, 169 (83-86) and freshman Spencer Smythe, 176 (92-84). Freshman Connor Neil shot a 13 over par 155 (78-77) and is sitting in 30th overall. 

As a team Southern finished the first day with a total of 631 (314-317) and is currently in eighth place, ahead of Fort Hays State, Southwest Baptist, and the host Lincoln. The Lions trail seventh place Nebraska-Kearney by just seven strokes.

This is the first MIAA points event of the fall season for the Lions, as the third and final round will begin with a shotgun start at approximately 8am on Tuesday.
