Lions golf in third after day one of Missouri Intercollegiate

Sunrise Beach, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern golf team is in third place after day one at the Missouri Intercollegiate played at the Club at Porto Cima today. 

The Lions shot a 307 in the first 18 holes today, the second-lowest team total of the round and followed that up with a 299, again the second-lowest team total, in the second 18 holes of the day. 

Junior transfer Elliot Soyez leads the way for the Lions after round two. He shot a 77 in round one and a 73 in round two to finish the day at 150, six shots over par and in a tie for fourth place. Junior Ryan Buerk and freshman Ben Starkey are both one stroke back of Soyes in a tie for seventh at 151, while senior Andy Hogenmiller is in a tie for 21st with a two-round 154. Freshman Garrett Roberts finished the day with a two-round total of 173. 

The Lions will conclude the tournament with a final round of 18 tomorrow.
