Southern golf finishes 9th at Lindenwood Invitational

St. Charles, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern golf team shot a final-round 317 today to finish 9th at the Lindenwood Invitational at Whitmor Country Club.

Ryan Buerk shot a second-round 74 and finished with a two-round total of 152 to finish tied for 14th. Ben Starkey finished the day with a 79 and a two-round total of 154, tied for 18th. Elliot Soyez shot a 162, while Andy Hogenmiller and Andrew Maier shot a 164 and 168, respectively. 

Host Lindenwood improved its first-day score by 14 strokes and took the team title by four shots over second-place Central Missouri. Northeastern State was third followed by Central Oklahoma, Washburn, Missouri Western, Pittsburg State, Lincoln, Southern, and Missouri Baptist to round out the top ten. Fort Hays, Nebraska-Kearney, Southwest Baptist and Henderson State were 11th through 14th, respectively. 

The Lions will be back in action on Oct. 15-16 in their final action of the fall, traveling to St. Joesph to compete in the Missouri Western Invite.
