Lions golf finish 18th at Northeastern State Invitational

Muskogee, Okla. -- The Missouri Southern golf team saved its best round for last today as the Lions shot 302 as a team and placed 18th overall at the Northeastern State Invitational held at Muskogee Country Club in Muskogee, Okla. 

Southern was led by sophomore Ryan Russell as the Nixa native shot a final round 76 and finished with a three-round 230. Freshman Adam Johnson shot a 78 in the final round to finish with a 234, while senior Jared Essary had the Lions' low round of the tournament with a 74 today and finished with a 235. Junior Fabian Oechsle shot a three-round 238, while freshman Kaleb Forkner shot a 240. 

The Lions will be back in action on Oct. 3-4 when they travel to Bolivar, Mo. for the second MIAA points event of the season at the Southwest Baptist Invitational in Silo Ridge Country Club.
