Southern golf finishes tenth at PSU Invite

Pittsburg, Kan. -- The Missouri Southern golf team placed tenth at the 2011 Pittsburg State Invitational held at Crestwood Country Club. The tournament is the first MIAA points event of the year. 

Southern fielded two teams in the event, and freshman Patrick Holt and senior Chris Moudy both ended the tournament with a 12 over par, 156. Freshman Adam Johnson and sophomore Ryan Russell shot a 160 and 161, respectively, while freshman Tyler Maggi shot a 163. 

Junior Fabian Oechsle and sophomore Jamie Newman both shot a 166, while Kaleb Forkner finished with a 168. Senior Jared Essary was disqualified in round one, but shot a 76 in round two. 

The Lions will be back in action on September 26 and 27 when they travel to Muskogee, Okla. to compete in the Northeastern State Invitational.
