Lions finish 10th at UCO Kickingbird Classic

Edmond, Okla. -- The Missouri Southern golf team slipped from sixth to tenth after the final round of the 2011 Central Oklahoma/Kickingbird Classic today at Kickingbird Golf Course in Edmond. 

The Lions were led by senior Stephen Boyd, who shot a final-round 75 to finish tied for 25th with a three-round 225. Junior Andy Hogenmiller finished with a three-round 226, while freshman Alec Wickey shot a 229. Senior Jamie Voegeli had a 231, while freshman Ryan Buerk had a two-day total of 242.

Central Oklahoma held on to win the team title, finishing 19 strokes in front of second-place Abilene Christian. Cameron was third, followed by Washburn, Midwestern State, Colorado St.-Pueblo, Nebraska-Kearney, St. Mary's, West Texas A&M and Southern.

The Lions will be back in action next week, traveling to Central Missouri for the second MIAA points event of the season on Monday and Tuesday at Pertle Springs Golf Course.
