Warrensburg, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern golf team had their best round of the tournament and finished in sixth place today at the Central Missouri Heart of America Classic at Keth Memorial Golf Course in Warrensburg.
Southern shot a 293 as a team in the final round led by a 72 from Andy Hogenmiller. He finished with a three-round 217, good for an 11th place finish. Stephen Boyd and Alec Wickey both posted a 222, while Jamie Voegeli rebounded to post a 73 in the final round and a 228 overall. Jared Essary had a three-round total of 233.
Central Missouri won the team title as both the Mules A and B teams placed first and second overall. Washburn was third, followed by Lindenwood and William Woods to round out the top five team scores.
Heading into next week's MIAA Tournament, the Lions are in third place in the MIAA points standings. Central Missouri has won the first three events for a total of 27 points, while Washburn (22) and Southern (21) are trailing close behind. Next week's tournament in Kansas City is worth double points.
