Lions fall 1-0 at Drury in non-conference pitcher's duel

Springfield, Mo. -- Tee Helsel went 3-4 and four Lions pitchers held Drury to just one run, but that wasn't enough, as the Missouri Southern baseball team fell 1-0 today in non-conference action at Drury.

Southern (12-12) left seven runners on base in the game as Drury capitalized with their lone run in the third when a single, a wild pitch and another single scored the go-ahead run for the Panthers.

Cody Griebling started for the Lions and struck out three in two perfect innings of work. Brett Abell pitched two innings and allowed one earned run, while striking out two. Ryan Wheat and Grant Conrad threw two scoreless innings each to finish the game.

Helsel was 3-4, while Harrison Gerber, Dallas Burke and Shane Hoke had a hit each for Southern with Gerber's being a double.

The Lions will be back in action this Saturday and Sunday with a pair of double-headers against Washburn University.
