Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern Lions fought tough but
ultimately it wasn't enough to hold of the Newman University Jets
Sunday at Hal Bolden Field as they fell 1-0 in double overtime.
The Lions, under first year head coach Alese Woolard, had seven
shots on goal but couldn't convert. Junior goalkeeper Randi Russell
played all 105:52 in the net for the Lions with a solid effort, she
dropped to 0-1 and the team dropped to 0-2 on the season.
Junior forward Michelle Dizma led the Lions with two shots on
goal, while the Lions out shot Newman 16-12.
The Lions will be back in action again Saturday September 11
against Emporia State, kickoff is at 7pm.
