Missouri Southern Loses Season Opener

Tahlequah, Okla. – The Missouri Southern State University Women's Soccer squad dropped a heartbreaker in the season opener at Northeastern State University, 1-0, on Friday night.

Jennifer Clark scored late in the second half to lift the Lady Riverhawks over the Lions.  The Lions were out shot 10-6, but had solid performances in the goal by both junior Randi Russell and freshman Ashley Bechtold.  Russell saved the only shot on goal she faced as Bechtold recorded two saves out of three shots on goal.

Missouri Southern had three chances to score in the match.  Junior forward Lindi Spilchen, junior forward Michelle Dizma, and sophomore forward Cortney Sanders each had a shot on goal for the Lions.

The Lions will face Newman University at 2 pm this Sunday for their home opener at Hal Bolden Field.
