Tahlequah, Okla. – The Missouri Southern State University
Women's Soccer squad dropped a heartbreaker in the season opener at
Northeastern State University, 1-0, on Friday night.
Jennifer Clark scored late in the second half to lift the Lady
Riverhawks over the Lions. The Lions were out shot 10-6, but
had solid performances in the goal by both junior Randi Russell and
freshman Ashley
Bechtold. Russell saved the only shot on goal she faced
as Bechtold recorded two saves out of three shots on
goal.
Missouri Southern had three chances to score in the match.
Junior forward Lindi Spilchen,
junior forward Michelle Dizma, and sophomore forward Cortney Sanders
each had a shot on goal for the Lions.
The Lions will face Newman University at 2 pm this Sunday for
their home opener at Hal Bolden Field.
