Joplin, Mo. - The Lions watched their two best
scoring opportunities go by in the second half and fell to the
visiting Mavericks of Nebraska-Omaha, 1-0.
Southern's best chances to score came at the 33:25 and 31:25
marks in the second half as the Mavericks goalkeeper made a diving
play on two separate cross passes leaving the net open but the
Lions couldn't capitalize.
The Lions' junior midfielder Shannon Kuhn, sophomore defender
Corinne Tebbs, and junior forward Michelle Dimza recorded all three
shots on goal.
The loss drops Missouri Southern to 2-4-1 overall and 2-2-1 in
the MIAA.
The Lions will go on a two game road trip to Missouri Western
and Northwest Missouri, September 30 and October 2 respectively,
before returning home October 7 against Southwest Baptist.
