Lions Sting Hornets

Joplin, Mo. – The Missouri Southern Lions used a scoring explosion in the second half to comeback to a 4-1 win over Emporia State Hornets Saturday night at Fred G. Hughes Stadium.

The Lions used two goals from junior midfielder Danai Noftz, her second and third of the year, and one a piece from junior midfielder Shannon Kuhn and sophomore midfielder Alicia Vonderheid, each their first of the season, to overcome a 1-0 deficit a halftime.

After being burned on a lob shot junior goalkeeper Randi Russell shut down the Hornets while recording four saves.

The Lions move to 2-2 on the season and 2-0 in MIAA play.  The Lions will again be home Thursday as they play host to conference foe Truman State at 7pm at Hal Bodon field.
