Joplin, Mo. - The Missouri Southern Lions
Women's Soccer team battled visiting Washburn to a 1-1 double
overtime tie Saturday at Hal Bodon Field.
The Lions' lone goal was scored by junior midfielder Shannon
Kuhn off of two assists from junior midfielder Brianna McKenzie and
sophomore midfielder Corrine Tebbs at the 62:45 mark. The
lone goal for Washburn came from junior Lauren Henry from freshman
Megan Buckley as time expired.
Junior goalkeeper Randi Russell again soared in the net for
Southern stopping six shots from the Lady Blues.
The tie moves Southern to 3-5-3 overall and 3-3-3 in the MIAA.
The Lions will be on the road for their next two conference
contests at Emporia State, on Oct. 14, and at Truman, Oct. 16.
They will return home on Oct. 23 to face the MIAA leading
Jennies of Central Missouri. That game's kickoff is scheduled
for 7pm.
