Emporia, Kan. - Missouri Southern scored on a
corner kick with 10 minutes left in regulation to tie Emporia
State and the match ended 1-1 after two overtimes Thursday
night in Emporia, Kan.
The Lions fell behind 1-0 in the first half after a Hornet
goal by Holli Shcletzbaum on an unassisted goal at the 39 minute
mark.
Southern then tied the score on a goal by junior midfielder Shannon Kuhn
off of a corner kick by sophomore midfielder Corinne Tebbs at
the 79 minute mark of the match.
The Lions outshot Emporia State 14-9 overall with a 7-5
advantage in shots on goal.
Junior goalkeeper Randi Russell
recorded four saves in the 110 minutes of play.
Missouri Southern moves to 3-5-4 overall and 3-3-4 in the MIAA
and will continue their MIAA road trip with an 11:30am kickoff
Saturday at Truman State Univeristy in Kirksville, Mo. The
Lions will return home to Hal Bodon Field on October 23rd against
the MIAA leading Jennies of Central Missouri, kickoff is at
1pm.
