Omaha, Neb. -- Goalkeeper Randi Russell notched
a career-high 12 saves to keep the Missouri Southern Lions close,
but Megan Jensen scored in the 24th minute for UNO and the
Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks held on for a 1-0 win Thursday afternoon
(Oct. 29) in Omaha, Neb.
Jensen's score came at the 24:09 mark of the first half off a free
kick from the deep right side of the field.
Russell's 12 save output gave the Lions (4-13, 2-11 MIAA) a chance
to win a match in which they were out-shot 22-2 overall and 13-0
on-goal.
Michelle Dimza recorded both of the Lions' shot-attempts. Jerica
Kuncl had a match-high seven shots for the Mavericks (13-4-1,
12-1-1 MIAA).
The Lions will next play at Northwest Missouri State on Saturday
afternoon (Oct. 31) at 2 p.m. in Maryville, Mo.
