Joplin, Mo. -- Riley Mahn scored the match's
first goal in the 54th minute of the second half to lead the Truman
Bulldogs to a 2-0 win over the Missouri Southern Lions Friday
afternoon (Oct. 23) at Fred G. Hughes Stadium. The match was
again held at the Stadium due to continued wet conditions at Hal
Bodon Field.
Mahn's score came on an assist from Katie Reuck off a keeper
deflection at the 54:42 mark of the second half.
Jaclyn Schumann helped seal the Bulldogs 10th straight victory
by scoring on a pass from Beth Bystrom off a corner kick to the
middle of the box in the 75th minute of action.
The Bulldogs used an 11-1 shots edge in the second half to take
control of the scoreless match. TSU out-shot the Lions 17-6
overall and 11-4 on-goal.
Candis Clark and Danai Noftz each led the Lions (4-12,
2-10 MIAA) with two shots. Mahn and Isabel Gaeta each
had a match-high three shots to lead the Bulldogs.
Goalkeeper Randi Russell helped keep the Lions close by tying
her career-high with nine saves. Jayne Grisham recorded four
saves for the Bulldogs.
The Lions will next be in action at Nebraska-Omaha next Thursday
(Oct. 29) at 3 p.m.
