Courtney Williams is entering her second season as a student assistant in 2024 with the softball program.
Williams completed her first season as an assistant coach for a Lions team that finished 41-15 overall and 21-5 in the MIAA, serving as the first base coach. Southern made it to the NCAA Regional Tournament for the ninth time in program history and first since 2001 while being picked to host a reginoal for the first time since 1993 and the third time ever in program history. The Lions won 40 games for the eighth time in program history while breaking seven team season records and had their first All-American in 25 years.
Williams was a three year letter winner at Coronado High School and coach Tom Dull where as an Islander she was also involved with the basketball program where she was a three year letter winner for coach Goodwin as the team made it to the CIF Playoffs in back-to-back seasons on the hardwood. On the high school softball field as a freshman she posted a .484 batting average with 31 hits and scoring 17 runs on the season while picking up All-District accolades. In her sophomore year posted a .474 batting average with 36 hits and scoring 28 runs... Named in the Top 25 in the San Diego area her junior year after finishing in the top 13 in PGF and was on the team that won the Park City World Series 16u
Courtney is the daughter of Teresa and Patrick Williams and is an education major at Southern.
