Lacy Stokes led the Lions to a season sweep over Pittsburg State 80-65 in Joplin and 77-74 in Pittsburg, it was the first sweep for the Lions in the rivalry since the 2006-07 season. Stokes finished the week averaging 29.0 points, 7.0 assists and 6.0 rebounds a game while shooting 50.0 percent from the field and 81.25 percent from free throws. Coming into the week Stokes averaged 17.9 points a game and is now averaging 18.8 points a game and has scored 20 or more points in four straight games. Stokes began the week with a 80-65 win over Pitt scoring 22 points while adding seven assists and five rebounds to help the Lions to their first win against the Gorillas since the 2018-19 season. To close the week Stokes went for a school freshman single-game scoring record 36 points going 12-of-22 from the field, 4-of-9 from three along with going 8-of-10 from free throws while adding seven assists and seven rebounds to complete the first sweep of the series for Southern since the 2006-07 season. Stokes broke the freshman scoring record held by Patti Killian (1977-78) by the end of the first half and now sits with 470 points scored this season to sit in 18th in single-season scoring at Southern overall. Stokes has 147 assists this season as well the fifth most in a single-season in school history and her 5.88 assists per game average is the second best in school history. After this week Stokes has 11 games this season scoring 20 or more points and is the only freshman in school history to have ever score 30 or more points in a game, doing so twice this season.
