For the third-straight week and the seventh time this season, Missouri Southern men's basketball player Cam Martin was named the MIAA Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week. Martin, a 6-9 native of Yukon, Okla., had a huge week for the Lions as he averaged 43.5 points, 11.5 rebounds 1.5 blocks and 0.5 assists while shooting 65 percent from the field and 87 percent from the free-throw line in two games for Missouri Southern. He scored 33 points and brought down 11 rebounds as he went 14-of-21 from the field and 5-of-7 from the free-throw line against Northwest Missouri.

Against Missouri Western, Martin set a new MSSU single-game scoring record as he scored 54 points. He also tallied 12 rebounds and went 17-of-27 from the field while he was 15-of-16 from the free-throw line. The 54 points tops the previous single-game mark of 49 which he had tied with Carl Tyler (1984).
