Kimutai, a native of Eldioet, Kenya, won a highly-competitive 5k at the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic. He defeated his nearest opponent by three seconds with a time of 14:03.08, an NCAA Division II automatic qualifying mark. The time currently sits atop the MIAA and third-best in Division II.
