Jim Graffam comes to the Lions after a long career of coaching men's basketball in New England. He spent more than 30 years coaching college basketball in Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire and he also coached a season in the United States Basketball League.

From 2008-2012, he headed the post-graduate program at Lee Academy in Maine. There he prepped players who were being recruited by the ACC, the Big 12, the Big East and the Pac 12 to name a few.

Graffam is known as a builder. More than once, he has taken over a struggling program and turned it into winners. As an example, in 2005, he took over a team at the College of St. Joseph in Vermont that had gone 6-62 over the prior three-year period and guided them to a conference championship in 2008.

Among his accomplishments are four conference championships, four national tournament appearances, three All-Americans and a National Player of the Week. Although he coached a player who scored 3,050 points in his career and four that have gone on to play professionally, Graffam is most proud of his graduation rates.

A native of Maine, Graffam graduated from the University of Southern Maine where he ran cross country, lettered in basketball and captained the baseball team. He is married to Joplin native JoAnn Hollis and has a daughter, Angela and a son, Matthew.
