Patty Vavra named MIAA Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year

Kansas City, Mo. -- Missouri Southern women's cross country coach Patty Vavra has been named the MIAA Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year, the league announced today. 

Vavra led the Lions to the school's sixth MIAA cross country title this past weekend, the fifth in the last seven seasons. 

It is her sixth MIAA Coach of the Year honor in Cross Country and 10th overall. She has coached teams to six MIAA titles (1998, 2006-09, 2012) and her team won this year's event. Vavra has coached four MIAA Individual Champions and coached two All-MIAA selections this season.

The Lions will play host to the 2012 NCAA Division II Central Region Cross Country Championships on November 3.
