Wichita Falls, Texas -- Missouri Southern junior Marlee Tegenkamp placed second and the Lions women's cross country team placed sixth overall at the 2011 NCAA Division II South Central Regional hosted by Midwestern State University.
Tegenkamp traversed the 6k course in a time of 21:45.60, trailing first place Chloe Susset of Abilene Christian by just eight seconds. Tegenkamp earned a spot in the 2011 NCAA Division II National Cross Country meet in Seattle on November 19.
Rachel Schrader placed 14th with a time of 22:20.60 and along with Tegenkamp were both named All-Region for their efforts. Olivia Francka was 35th in a time of 23:02.90, while Codi Fritchie placed 51st in a time of 23:31.30. Maggie Tennal placed 88th, while Nicole French and Lauren Baehr were 111th and 119th.
Midwestern State took the team title with 102 points, while Pittsburg State, Northwest Missouri, Truman State and Southwest Baptist round out the top five. Southern was sixth, followed by Harding, Tarleton State, Angelo State and Eastern New Mexico to finish off the top ten teams.
Tegenkamp will join Midwestern State and Pittsburg State in representing the South Central Region at the national meet on November 19 in Seattle.
