Southern women fall in dual with Pittsburg State

Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern women's cross country program finished just behind Pittsburg State today in a dual between the two schools at the MSSU Cross Country Course today. 

PSU defeated the Lions 25-33 as the Gorillas had the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th place finishers. 

The Lions, however, had the meet's top collegiate finisher as junior Marlee Tegenkamp placed second to former Lion Ashley Bunch who was running unattached. Tegankamp took home the top honors and completed the 6k course in a time of 17:33.60. Sophomore Rachel Schrader finished third with a time of 18:01.70. Freshman Lauren Robson was sevneth, while sophomore Codi Fritchie placed 10th. 

Freshmen Olivia Francka and Lauren Baehr placed 13th and 15th, while sophomores Maggie Tennal and Nicole French placed 17th and 19th. 

The Lions will be back in action on October 1 when Southern travels to Stillwater, Okla. to take place in the Oklahoma State Jamboree.
