Volleyball falls 3-0 at home to Central Oklahoma

Joplin, Mo. --  The Missouri Southern volleyball team looked strong in the opening set tonight against visiting Central Oklahoma, but the Lions could not pull out the opener and eventually lost three sets to none at Young Gymnasium. Individual set scores were 22-25, 11-25 and 19-25. 

Southern (3-9, 0-4 MIAA) led for most of the beginnning of the first set, but the Bronchos (12-3, 4-2 MIAA) tied the set at 13 and took a 16-14 lead to force a Southern timeout. The Lions tied the set at 20, but UCO would score five of the final seven points to take the set. 

UCO hit .318 in the second set and .243 in the third to take the match. 

The Lions were led offensively by setter Abby Finder. She had seven kills, 25 assists, two aces, four digs and three blocks, while hitting .545. Katie Politte had eight kills, while Krishna Merriman added seven of her own. Mikayla Avery had a team-high 11 digs, while Payton Graves added five blocks. 

The Lions will be back in action on Friday when Southern plays host to Missouri Western at 7 pm from Young Gymnasium.
