The Gorillas dominated the first two sets, leading throughout in set one with only one tie in the second set. In the third set, the Lions trailed 13-10 after a kill by PSU's Stringer, but fought back to tie the set at 15 and took the lead on a PSU attack error. Two more errors made the Lions' lead 18-15 and the Lions eventually led 21-16, forcing a Gorilla timeout. The Lions scored four of the final seven points to end the set.
The fourth set would be a back-and-forth affair with the Gorillas taking an early 16-8 lead after an MSSU error. The Lions clawed back and cut the lead 24-23, but a kill by Bergkamp would end the match.
The Lions will be back in action this weekend as they head to Southwest Baptist on Friday, then travel to Northwest Missouri on Saturday.
