Women's track competes at Pitt State and Wash U in outdoor track opener

Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern women's track and field team kicked off the outdoor season tonight as Kaylee Morgan competed in the heptathlon at Pittsburg State and a pair of distance runners competed at Washington University in St. Louis. 

Morgan is in second place after day one of the heptathlon at PSU. She finished third in the 100m hurdles and second in the high jump. She was second in the shot put and third in the 200m dash. She is 361 points behind Emilyn Dearman of PSU with 2,607 points after day one and will have the long jump, javelin and 800m to finish up the event tomorrow. 

In action at Washington University in St. Louis, Kaitlyn Belisle finished second in the 5k with a provisional time of 17:17.23, besting her seed time by nearly 13 seconds. Dora Eastin, the other MSSU runner in the event, finished 17th in a time of 18:04.13. 

The Lions will be back in action tomorrow with the final day of the heptathlon at PSU and the full team competing in the rest of the Wendy's/PSU Invite.
