Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern women's track and field team captured three titles in the final day of the MSSU Lion Invite today at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
Melanie Bower led a 1-2-3 finish for the Lions in the pole vault as she took home the title in a provisional height of 11-9. Sydney Haase placed second in the same provisional height of Bower, but lost out in fewer misses, while Ashleigh McFarland was third at a height of 11-3.
Rachel Schrader won the mile in a time of 5:08.17, while Addie Mengwasser and Jet Hovis placed 10th and 15th, respectively. Kylie Cornman was fifth in the shot put with a distance of 43-9.75, while Taylor Alumbaugh placed 23rd.
Kaitlyn Belisle placed second in the 3k, while Jasmin Hughes finished fourth in the 60m dash wit ha time of 7.88. Jackie Wallace placed third in the 60m hurdles with a provisional time of 8.89, while JeAnna Sheppard, Taitum Mead and Emily Paullus placed 4th, 5th and 8th.
White placed third in the 400m dash, while Emily Weldin, Sheppard and Mead placed third, fourth and fifth in the 600 yard. Sydney Potts placed third in the 800m with a time of 2:18.17, while the 4x400 meter relay team of Hughes, Potts, white and Weldin placed second with a time of 3:58.70.
The Lions will be back in action next weekend, competing at the Tyson Invitational on the campus of the University of Arkansas.
