Taitum Mead wins long jump in day one at MSSU Invite

Joplin, Mo. -- Taitum Mead led a 1-4 effort in the long jump as the Lions competed in day one of the MSSU Invite today at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. 

Mead jumped to a distance of 17-06.75, while freshmen Kaylee Morgan and Brittani Reagan placed second and third and Shelby Newell was fourth. 

Kylie Cornman placed third in the weight throw with a distance of 48-05.25, while Jasmin Hughes placed third in the 200m with a time of 26.14. Reagan was tenth in the event. Hughes qualified for the finals of the 60m dash in a time of 7.94, while JeAnna Sheppard, Jackie Wallace, and Mead all qualified in the 60m hurdles. 

The team will finish up the meet with day two this morning.
