Bower and Vengels finish tenth in respective events in day two of NCAA Div. II Outdoor Championships
Pueblo, Colo -- Missouri Southern women's track and field athletes Melanie Bower and Lisa Vengels both finished tenth in their respective events today in day two of the 2012 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Bower, a freshman and the MIAA indoor and outdoor pole vault champion this year, placed tenth in the pole vault with a height of 11-09.75.
Vengels entered the day sixth in the heptathlon, but fell to tenth in the final standings. She finished tenth in the 800m, 12th in the javelin and 14th in the long jump. She finished with 4,760 points in the event.
In other action, Jasmin Hughes failed to qualify for the finals of the 200m, finishing her heat in a time of 24.20, just .19 off of the final qualifying time.
Vengels will compete in the high jump and Nicole Green will throw the shot put in the final day of competition tomorrow.
