Southern Track and Field have ten athletes earn Scholar Athlete Awards

Joplin, Mo. - Eight women and two men have earned National Scholar Athlete Awards by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the group announced today. 

To earn the honor, an athlete must earn a cumulative 3.25 GPA and also have earned a provisional or automatic qualifying mark in either the indoor or outdoor seasons this past year. 

Earning the nod for the Lions' women were Ashley Bunch, Lindsey Bragg, Kylie Cornman, Nicole Green, Kelly McKay, Carita Riutta, Rachel Schrader, and Lisa Vengels

Picking up honors for the men were Seth Matlock and Aki Nummela

Those institutions given All-Academic Team status will be named on Tuesday, August 9 (women) and Thursday, August 11 (men).
