Southern women take home three titles at ESU

Emporia, Kan. -- The Missouri Southern women's track and field team took home three titles at the State Farm/Emporia State Relays today in Emporia. 

Lisa Vengels won the high jump, while Nicole Green took home the title in the shot and Marlee Tegenkamp won the 3k. 

Vengels picked up a provisional and nearly missed an automatic qualifier with a height of 5-8. Gayla Booth placed 12th in the event. 

Green won the shot put with a provisional distance of 45-1.75, while Kylie Cornman placed fourth with a heave of 42-9.75. Green also placed 8th in the discus with a distance of 136-06, while Kylie Jones was 11th. 

Tegenkamp won the 3k with a time of 10:59.27. Victoria Kline was third and Codi Fritchie was fourth, while Nicole French placed sixth. 

Vanessa Langford placed second in the pole vault with a height of 11-3.75, whie Sydney Haase was fourth. 

Kelly McKay and Jasmin Hughes placed 6th and 7th in the 100m dash, while McKay placed 8th in the 200m. Carita Riutta and Maggie Tennal placed 4th and 12th in the 1,500m, while Elizabeth Corcoran and Kasey Meadows were 10th and 11th in the 400m hurdles.

Rachel Schrader placed 7th in the 800m with a time of 2:22.73, while Brandy Simpson was 5th in the long jump with a distance of 18-3.75. 

The Lions will be back in action next weekend competing at the ESU Multi's on Thursday and Friday and then at Pittsburg State on Saturday.
