Bragg wins the long jump in day one of Radio Shack Invite

Joplin, Mo -- Missouri Southern freshman Lindsey Bragg captured the title in the long jump and hit a provisional distance in the proces in day one of the 2011 Radio Shack Invitational tonight at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. 

Bragg hit a mark of 18-2.50 as she led the Lions to a 1-2-3-4 finish in the event. Brandy Simspon was second in the event, while Rachel Olinyk and Gayla Booth finished third and fourth. Jasmin Hughes was sixth. 

Nicole Green finished second in the weight throw with a distance of 51-7.75, while Kylie Cornman was ninth. Hughes took home the title in the 200m with a time of 25.91, while Brag was second at 27.04. Alex Close and Tia Cook finished fifth and sixth, respectively. 

Hughes, Sagan Graskemper and Cook qualified for the finals in the 60m dash, while Lisa Vengels, JeAnna Sheppard, Kasey Meadows and Elizabeth Corcoran qualified for the finals of the 60m hurdles. 

A select group of individuals were also running tonight at the University of Nebraska, where the distance medley relay team of Rachel Schrader, Kelly McKay, Carita Riutta and Ashley Bunch won the event with a time of 12:07.40. Bunch also finished fifth in the mile with a time of 5:06.46, while placing third in the 3k with a time of 10:18.66. 

The Lions will finish up the weekend with day two of the Radio Shack Invite tomorrow.
